The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 89 on Cedric Gray a full 37 spots early. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Guyton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 26 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Tyler Guyton come to them and pounced at pick No. 41. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Javon Bullard at the 58th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Khyree Jackson in the 88th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cedric Gray at slot 89 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor itch, scratched.
Value said wait; Braelon Allen in No. 91 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Ainias Smith in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Javion Cohen at the 168th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
