Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Danny Stutsman, the No. 88 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 145.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Value with a capital V on Colston Loveland in No. 38, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They will replay Tre Harris at Round 3, Pick 5 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 77 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Jaylin Noel, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 145th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
