When a board-topper like Beau Brade slides to pick No. 158, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Frazier lower, and that gap is the story.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Zach Frazier at slot 53 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good price on Adisa Isaac in Round 3, Pick 2, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
They jumped the gun on LaDarius Henderson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Beau Brade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 186th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach for Austin Stogner in pick 188; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Michael Barrett slid further than he should have, and pick No. 199 is lovely value for the linebacker. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Darius Muasau come to them and pounced at No. 235. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Matthew Jones at par in slot 242, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
