Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A mixed bag that lands at C.
Landing Torrence that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Ja'Tavion Sanders in No. 36, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Xavier Legette at slot 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bralen Trice in pick 67. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Cedric Gray at the 100th overall pick that the board grades a round light. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A tidy little value on Christian Mahogany in pick No. 105, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Fisher. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Isaac Guerendo slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the running back. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Anthony Gould in the 152nd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Malik Mustapha in slot 188 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Ro Torrence was still sitting there in the 222nd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
