There is reaching, and then there is Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot. The Commanders jumped the board by 26 and dared it to prove them wrong.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Sainristil pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Amarius Mims at the 36th pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Chop Robinson at No. 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 37, where Mike Sainristil graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cole Bishop at slot 102 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Theo Johnson at No. 141, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Jawhar Jordan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tatum Bethune in pick 223, miles early. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
