The Chiefs bet big and early on David Walker, 63 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
On value alone, Taylor makes the weekend a net positive. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The back end got a real overhaul.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a lockdown presence outside, a steep price for the projection. More want than need.
Xavier Watts in pick No. 64 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A clean, defensible pick in the 66th overall pick with a little surplus value in Grey Zabel. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
David Walker in slot 97 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in the 132nd pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
