The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Packers walked right past. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Mustapha pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They are betting Sainristil proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Mike Sainristil in pick No. 58 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had cheaper options than Trey Benson at No. 88, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Marshawn Kneeland in slot 91 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Javon Foster in the 125th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They let Malik Mustapha come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 32. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
