Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent pick 98 on Mohamed Kamara, a name the board had a full 35 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at pick No. 53, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Mohamed Kamara at the 98th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Mason McCormick in slot 161, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey in Round 5, Pick 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 172; the board had better options right there. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A premium they did not need to pay, Frank Gore Jr. a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
