Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Eagles never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
The McCaffrey steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered. Their trades came out a wash either way.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Payton Wilson in pick 53, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Braden Fiske went about where he belonged in slot 54. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, James Williams at Round 4, Pick 20 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 161 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tykee Smith at the 171st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Walter Rouse slid further than he should have, and the 172nd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Jared Wiley in No. 206 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Garret Greenfield at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
