The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ricky White, the No. 177 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 31.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chris Braswell in slot 62. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zak Zinter at pick No. 97 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy bit of business in the 137th overall pick, where Khyree Jackson graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ainias Smith at Round 5, Pick 20 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Lathan Ransom in No. 172 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 178. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Jalen Berger, who had no business lasting to the 249th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ricky White in the 251st pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
