The trade table was a mismatch, and the Eagles were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
They are betting Smith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Cowing pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Cooper Beebe at the 56th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Ainias Smith in the 120th overall pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nehemiah Pritchett in Round 5, Pick 25, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Jacob Cowing was still sitting there in pick No. 171, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Tanor Bortolini in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
A straight-up fair deal on Myles Harden at slot 210, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
