Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Joshua Farmer got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at the Round 5 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in pick 41, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Elic Ayomanor at Round 2, Pick 32 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Donovan Jackson at pick No. 96 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and Kalel Mullings was the payoff at the 129th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kyren Lacy at slot 149. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Joshua Farmer reach No. 162 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kobe King at the 166th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
The board fumbled Mello Dotson all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
