You could see the war room lean forward. Carson Schwesinger at the 166th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Every board in the league had Bryant lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Harold Fannin Jr. in the 59th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Joshua Farmer in pick No. 96 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach slot 129 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Cobee Bryant at No. 162 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 166 is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Billy Bowman Jr. at Round 5, Pick 32 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
