Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Nehemiah Pritchett got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at slot 210. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They will need Hopper to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at No. 50 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in the 53rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Kris Jenkins. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Mike Sainristil in pick No. 120 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jacob Cowing at the 161st pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 35: Kitan Oladapo for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 172; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Nehemiah Pritchett at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
