This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kitan Oladapo, the No. 142 name on the board, stolen at the 172nd pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Ceaser left real value on the table behind him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Kris Jenkins at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 53rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr. at pick 120 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at pick No. 161. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Nelson Ceaser at No. 171 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A safety of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 36 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
