The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Connor Lew, the No. 82 name on the board, in Round 4, Pick 14. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered.
They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Emmanuel Pregnon is a better player than slot 54 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Keith Abney II was still sitting there in pick 63, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Eli Stowers come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 4. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jadarian Price at pick No. 98 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Connor Lew in the 114th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kaleb Proctor in the 137th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Malik Benson higher than No. 153, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Charles Demmings here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Aamil Wagner at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Taylen Green at No. 197. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Robert Spears-Jennings in pick 247. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
