Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Jaylin Simpson, the No. 137 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 210.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Kamari Lassiter higher than the 50th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Adisa Isaac slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kamren Kinchens in No. 94 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Dominick Puni was still sitting there in slot 120, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Ainias Smith at the 161st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Sataoa Laumea at pick No. 171 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Dylan Laube, who had no business lasting to pick 172. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Jaylin Simpson all the way to slot 210, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
