The Eagles went off the board in a big way for Cole Payton, 93 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Getting Neal where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Chris Brazzell II · WR · rank 29
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 51
A reasonable price with a little left over, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 58. The roster fit checks out.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Brian Parker II · OT · rank 100
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brian Parker II. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Sam Roush · TE · rank 89
Sam Roush at No. 74 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Caden Curry · DE-EDGE · rank 125
A wild overpay on Caden Curry in pick No. 95, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 101
No drama and no debate, Nicholas Singleton went about where he belonged in slot 98. It fills a real need, too.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Deion Burks · WR · rank 108
Value with a capital V on Deion Burks in pick 122, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 129
A straight-up fair deal on Harold Perkins Jr. at pick No. 125, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 153
Value said wait; Beau Stephens in No. 127 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Julian Neal · CB · rank 110
Steal is underselling it; Julian Neal at the 133rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.37 · Pick 137 · Cole Payton · QB · rank 230
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cole Payton this early at the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.13 · Pick 153 · Kaleb Proctor · DL · rank 167
A reach on Kaleb Proctor in the 153rd overall pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.38 · Pick 178 · Marlin Klein · TE · rank 172
Marlin Klein in Round 5, Pick 38 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.34 · Pick 215 · George Gumbs Jr. · DE-EDGE · rank 269
George Gumbs Jr. in slot 215 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
