When a board-topper like Elijah Jones slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The back end got a real overhaul.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 50 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Tyler Guyton at the 53rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
DJ James at No. 98 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Elijah Jones at pick 161 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Kitan Oladapo, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 35. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Brennan Jackson come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Delmar Glaze at pick No. 187, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Erick All at pick 210 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
