When a board-topper like Tommy Eichenberg slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Proctor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 18 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Brian Thomas Jr. in the 54th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Brenden Rice at pick No. 97 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Khyree Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a linebacker like Tommy Eichenberg reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Steal is underselling it; Luke McCaffrey at the 172nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Josh Proctor at pick 178 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Zakhari Franklin at slot 243 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
