This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Luke McCaffrey, the No. 165 name on the board, stolen at pick 210. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Brian Thomas Jr. at slot 50 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Nubin at pick 53. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Cam Hart in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A quiet steal in pick No. 160: Marist Liufau for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Javion Cohen at Round 5, Pick 34 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jalyx Hunt in the 171st pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
They robbed the room for Luke McCaffrey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
