You could see the war room lean forward. Cooper DeJean at Round 2, Pick 18 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper DeJean at No. 50 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Junior Colson in the 53rd pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jalen McMillan in pick 120 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Tykee Smith at par in pick No. 161, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dillon Johnson at slot 171 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kamal Hadden at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Jaylan Ford in Round 6, Pick 35, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
