The Eagles went off the board in a big way for Rondell Bothroyd, 43 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a sticky cover corner, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 50 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 54 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Tykee Smith at Round 3, Pick 34, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the 137th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 163 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
The board had cheaper options than Ethan Driskell at the 172nd pick, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good price on Frank Gore Jr. in pick No. 178, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Rondell Bothroyd in No. 243 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
