The Eagles put a flag in the ground for Jackson Powers-Johnson, 29 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Wright that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get a sticky cover corner, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Edefuan Ulofoshio at par in No. 160, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Jaylen Wright was the payoff at the 171st overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at slot 178 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steele Chambers at No. 239 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They paid sticker price for Anim Dankwah in the 240th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
