The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Brenden Rice fell into No. 97. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They are betting Powers-Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Their trades came out a wash either way.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 20 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 22 they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Brenden Rice here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khristian Boyd at the 170th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Roger Rosengarten at No. 171 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Josh Proctor in the 178th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Jawhar Jordan at Round 7, Pick 18 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nathaniel Watson well ahead of where he belonged. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
