The war room fell hard for Trevor Etienne, and it showed at the Round 5 slot: 131 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Simmons pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on James Pearce Jr. in No. 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Colston Loveland in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Deontae Lawson slipping to pick 67 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No drama and no debate, Tyleik Williams went about where he belonged in the 74th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 89 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
