Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent Round 5, Pick 23 on Will Lee III, a name the board had a full 86 spots lower. No fireworks, but a solid B.
However the rest shakes out, Campbell at that price is a win they earned. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
A swing that ignored the value entirely, JT Tuimoloau well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Tyler Warren at pick 62 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Jihaad Campbell still on the board at No. 94. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Elic Ayomanor in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in pick No. 101, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let a safety like Kevin Winston Jr. reach Round 4, Pick 31 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Trey Zuhn III at the 140th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They talked themselves into Will Lee III at Round 5, Pick 23, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Ty Hamilton in the 162nd pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Miles Frazier at pick No. 165 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
