When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jalen Rivers at pick 218, a reach of 111 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
The Lawson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Jack Sawyer in the 30th overall pick, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyler Warren at slot 62 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 100 with a little surplus value in Kevin Winston Jr.. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to pick No. 125, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaeden Roberts in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Kyren Lacy at pick 160 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Deontae Lawson was still sitting there in the 165th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Tonka Hemingway at No. 181, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Rod Moore in Round 6, Pick 26 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Will Lee III at pick 213, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Jalen Rivers, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
