The Eagles treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 173 on Trevor Etienne a full 124 spots early. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
However the rest shakes out, Dart at that price is a win they earned. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. On the needs board they went 8 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nic Scourton. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Donovan Jackson in the 55th pick, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Josh Simmons in slot 74 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Kevin Winston Jr. went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Elic Ayomanor in Round 3, Pick 26 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaxson Dart in the 126th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Bryson Nesbit in No. 127, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Antwane Wells Jr. at pick No. 165 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Trevor Etienne, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; J.C. Davis in Round 6, Pick 4 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
T.J. Sanders at pick 200 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
