The Eagles treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 3, Pick 34 on Frank Gore Jr. a full 69 spots early.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Bo Nix gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Tyler Nubin at the 35th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
J.J. McCarthy at No. 50 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Blake Corum in pick No. 54, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Frank Gore Jr. in pick 97, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tommy Eichenberg slipping to Round 5, Pick 1 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good price on LaDarius Henderson in pick 163, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Curtis Jacobs in the 178th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Value with a capital V on Mark Perry in pick No. 243, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
