The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Brenden Rice, the No. 113 name on the board, in pick No. 137. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They are betting Logan Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Amarius Mims at pick No. 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Edgerrin Cooper slipping to pick 45 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Cooper DeJean at slot 60 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They did well to land Tyleik Williams in Round 3, Pick 34, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Circle this one: Brenden Rice at the 137th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Mike Sainristil in the 172nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Layden Robinson in No. 178; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kenny Logan Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
