The Zion Logue pick is the one that will follow the Eagles into the fall. They took him 73 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Melton pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, safety and other spots. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They jumped the gun on Sedrick Van Pran, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A wild overpay on Jordan Travis in pick 64, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Max Melton adds a defensive back and leaves edge rusher, safety and other spots untouched.
By-the-book stuff, Cedric Gray at the 137th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Tyler Guyton at the 145th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Cam Hart in slot 172 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Rasheen Ali in pick 178 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Zion Logue at the 253rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
