The war room fell hard for Rondell Bothroyd, and it showed at the 243rd pick: 33 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Getting Wilson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick 50 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Calen Bullock in pick No. 54. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A quiet steal in the 97th overall pick: Roman Wilson for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 137th pick; the board had better options right there. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No edge and no loss on Roger Rosengarten in slot 163; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for Michael Barrett at the 172nd pick when waiting would have done the job. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
By-the-book stuff, Josh Proctor at the 178th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
