Boards are made to be trusted, and the Eagles shredded theirs for Jack Kelly. He came off 40 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Lew falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 54th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Germie Bernard at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Eli Stowers was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 11, and they pounced on premier tight end value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Keylan Rutledge in the 98th overall pick, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Daylen Everette at No. 114 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Tyler Onyedim, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Connor Lew at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in the 153rd pick, with Dametrious Crownover worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Bryce Boettcher went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kaelon Black at Round 6, Pick 16 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Chase Roberts in slot 206; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Kelly well ahead of where he belonged. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Isaiah Jatta in slot 239 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Eli Heidenreich in pick No. 253, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
