If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Eagles, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Trotter Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Adding Jessie Bates III by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They jumped the gun on Xavier Worthy, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cooper Beebe at the 50th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 53 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
