You can draft well and still miss the point. The Eagles did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Suamataia. Milton III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Jermaine Burton at par in pick No. 50, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Kamren Kinchens in slot 53, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 60th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Kingsley Suamataia slipping to the 74th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Braelon Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Jaheim Bell went about where he belonged in pick 160. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid a round early for Joe Milton III in Round 6, Pick 12, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
