The rest of the league will want that one back. Ryan Fitzgerald tumbling to the Eagles in the 234th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Nick Emmanwori in slot 45 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Dylan Fairchild at the 96th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 129 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Darius Alexander in Round 4, Pick 33, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Barrett Carter still on the board at the Round 5 slot. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jared Wilson reach No. 162 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Terrance Ferguson in the 169th pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Ryan Fitzgerald in pick 234 is close to grand larceny; a specialist that good had no business lasting this long. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
