The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Kool-Aid McKinstry in No. 22, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 54 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Khyree Jackson in pick 100 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in Round 5, Pick 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Renardo Green in the 160th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Nathan Thomas at pick No. 178 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Omar Speights at the 217th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Myles Jones at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
