The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
Cole has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. The Wilson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in No. 41. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
T.J. Tampa in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Javon Bullard at the 74th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; Theo Johnson in slot 98 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Zak Zinter in pick 119, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 120 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Johnny Wilson, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 7. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Luke McCaffrey at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Myles Cole in Round 5, Pick 35 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nothing to complain about; Marist Liufau went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They did well to land Delmar Glaze in pick No. 195, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Tarheeb Still come to them and pounced at No. 256. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Owens. The roster fit checks out.
