Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
If Legette pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The McClellan pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at pick No. 48 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 50 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They reached a country mile for Xavier Legette at slot 53, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Christian Haynes went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Cam Hart at the 97th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took AJ Barner at par in pick No. 160, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jordan Travis is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jase McClellan at Round 6, Pick 35 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
