Nobody had Christian Haynes this high, and it is not close. The Eagles reached 29 spots to get him at pick No. 50. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Kamari Lassiter went about where he belonged in pick No. 27. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached a country mile for Christian Haynes at the Round 2 slot, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 27 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
A wild overpay on Mohamed Kamara in slot 97, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 137th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Frank Gore Jr. at No. 156 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Josh Proctor at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at the 178th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Troy Omeire at slot 248 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
