The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ja'Lynn Polk, the No. 76 name on the board, in pick No. 98.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Hopper reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; T'Vondre Sweat went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Mike Sainristil at par in pick 53, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ja'Lynn Polk at the 98th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trevor Keegan at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at slot 171. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Ty'Ron Hopper, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Tanor Bortolini in pick No. 187; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Erick All at the 210th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
