You build a draft on nights like this. Devin Neal had no business being available in pick No. 164, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value.
They robbed the room for Jihaad Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Gunnar Helm at the 95th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sebastian Castro in No. 128 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Ty Robinson in pick 160 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
