There is conviction, and then there is this. The Eagles took Cedric Gray a full 63 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Thomas Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
On the needs board they went 3 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Terrion Arnold in the Round 1 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Brian Thomas Jr. in the 50th overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Cedric Gray at slot 53, and the board did not agree. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Cole Bishop at pick 98 is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
