The Eagles put a flag in the ground for Danny Stutsman, 38 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The Carter pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots still on the board. On value alone, Pritchett makes the weekend a net positive.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. Need was not the driver here.
A want over a need in pick 51: Barrett Carter adds a linebacker while edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots keeps waiting.
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots to take Danny Stutsman, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Shilo Sanders in the 97th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on Lathan Ransom in slot 137, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Nehemiah Pritchett at Round 5, Pick 11 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A premium they did not need to pay, Bryce Foster a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Isaiah Adams at Round 6, Pick 3, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Brant Kuithe at pick 253 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
