The Eagles torched the value chart for Christian Jones, taking him 53 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 27 they get a three-down second-level presence, a steep price for the projection. More want than need.
They paid a round early for Javon Bullard in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Adisa Isaac in pick 59, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ben Sinnott at the 97th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Christian Jones at slot 137, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kitan Oladapo. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Frank Gore Jr. at pick 172 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A clean, defensible pick in the 178th overall pick with a little surplus value in Jaylan Ford. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A wild overpay on Hayden Hatten in pick No. 248, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
