Somebody in No. 251 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Rams sat still while Kaelon Black, the No. 217 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a rangy last line of defense at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Circle this one: Denzel Boston at Round 2, Pick 29 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Chase Bisontis all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Justin Jefferson in pick No. 207, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Andre Fuller at pick 232 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Kaelon Black in the 251st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Nolan Rucci went about where he belonged in slot 252. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
