Arizona Cardinals

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cardinals and Emmanwori: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Nick Emmanwori tumbling to the Cardinals in the 47th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Higgins pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Cameron Williams · OT · rank 37
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 18
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to slot 47, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Aeneas Peebles · DL · rank 85
They paid sticker price for Aeneas Peebles in Round 3, Pick 14, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.13 · Pick 114 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 137
A big swing on Jay Higgins at pick No. 114, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.14 · Pick 153 · Pat Bryant · WR · rank 147
A tidy little value on Pat Bryant in the 153rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
