The rest of the league had time to spare on Kevin Jennings; the Cardinals did not wait, grabbing him 92 spots ahead at the Round 5 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Grant. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Booker at slot 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Kenneth Grant in the 47th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, R Mason Thomas well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value said wait; Kevin Jennings in Round 5, Pick 1 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on Dont'e Thornton Jr. at No. 151 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Seth McLaughlin in pick 190 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
