The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Sheridan Jones, the No. 219 name on the board, in pick 250. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They will answer for taking linebacker early while quarterback went begging.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
So much rides on Troy Fautanu that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Junior Colson is a better player than the 61st pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Legette reach the 62nd overall pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Payton Wilson adds a linebacker and leaves quarterback untouched.
Value with a capital V on Kamren Kinchens in slot 76, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kris Abrams-Draine in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Calen Bullock in pick 85, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 86, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in slot 89. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Blake Corum in pick No. 97 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Khyree Jackson in the 100th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Gabriel Murphy at Round 4, Pick 13 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beaux Limmer. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Theo Johnson, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They let Roger Rosengarten come to them and pounced at No. 143. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Trey Knox at pick 246 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
JD Bertrand at Round 7, Pick 28 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
The board fumbled Sheridan Jones all the way to No. 250, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
